This chair was created as the capstone project for my furniture-making program. "Padrona" translates to female boss, or lady of the house, in Italian. I wanted a chair for my space that rivalled the recliners my father and grandfather had, to create something regal with a feminine touch. The brass is incorporated as a V shape connecting the armrests to the bottom rungs, and is also an accent on each leg, plugging the supportive screw holes. The rest of the piece is made from salvaged Garry Oak, Yew, and upholstery fabric. I create functional art from salvaged wood through my studio, Craft Cove, and I am excited to start utilizing more metal in my pieces after learning about how to work with it during my program.
