About C110 copper

C110 is electrolytic tough pitch copper, ETP, refined to at least 99.90% purity, and it's the standard commercial copper in Canada. Annealed, it conducts at 100-101% IACS, the yardstick the whole conductivity scale is set against, which is why busbar, ground bars, and electrical fittings are made from it. We stock it to ASTM B187 in flat bar, round bar, sheet, square bar, and a bit of hex.

Why is busbar made from C110 copper?
Because busbar is a conductivity job and C110 is the conductivity metal. It carries maximum current, drills and bolts cleanly, and takes a solid joint. We supply the bar to the cross-section and length you spec; size the bus to the Canadian Electrical Code with your engineer.
Can you torch or braze C110 copper?
Yes, but keep the flame neutral, not fuel-rich. Tough pitch copper can suffer hydrogen embrittlement if you heat it hard in a fuel-rich flame, which turns it brittle for good. Work quick, and lean to silver solder over high-temp brazing where the joint allows.
