Ordering a cut, start to finish
Start with the material: carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, brass, copper, bearing bronze, or O1 tool steel. Then the shape: round, flat, square, or hex bar, angle, channel, pipe, tube, or sheet. Every product page lists the exact alloy, dimensions, and the length range its stock allows.

Enter any length down to the inch and watch the price update as you type. Pricing is per inch, so a 13″ piece costs exactly 13 inches' worth, not a rounded-up 24″ blank. Sheet works the same way with a custom width and length.

Your order joins the saw queue the same day. Straight 90 degree cuts at ±1/8″, then packed for the carrier. Order up to 96″ online with live carrier rates at checkout; under 48″ gets the best parcel rates, and longer pieces still ship at honest prices. Need up to 21 feet? Cut quality comes down to the iron doing the cutting, so here's exactly what's on our floor.
Online ordering covers straight cuts at 90 degrees. Mitre cuts, holes, and shapes from a drawing run through the plasma table or a custom quote instead. And custom-cut metal is final sale, so measure twice before you click. If we ever cut it wrong or the material's defective, we'll make it right.

The CNC saws run cool mist spray and programmable feeds, and both can mitre; mitre work goes through a quote rather than the cart so we can confirm the setup. The shears carry programmable back gauges, which is why a 37-3/4″ sheet cut comes back at 37-3/4″.

How much do custom cuts cost?
Nothing on top of the metal. Cutting is free: you pay the per-inch price for the length you order, and that's it.

Is there a minimum order?
No minimum quantity for cutting. There's a $40 minimum on online orders, and one short bar clears it just fine.
What are the cutting tolerances?
±1/8″ on every cut. If your part needs tighter, ask in a quote request and we'll tell you straight whether the saws can hold it for your piece.
What lengths can you cut?
It varies by product. Every product page shows its minimum and maximum length, and many bars cut as short as 1″. Need something longer than the page allows? Request a quote and we'll cut from full stock; special requests run up to 21 feet.
What types of cuts do you do?

Can you cut polished metal?
Yes. Keep in mind the cut edge itself won't have the polished finish.
How fast do cut orders ship?
Orders placed by 1pm Atlantic on a business day usually ship the next business day. A high volume of cuts can add a day; if your order needs more time we'll call or email you.
Can you cut while I wait at the shop?
Yes. Come into the Dartmouth shop and we'll cut your order while you wait, Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm Atlantic.
Can I return custom-cut items?
Custom-cut metal is final sale. Once we've cut to your measurement we can't restock it, so double-check your numbers before you order. If we cut it wrong or the material is defective, contact us and we'll make it right.
