About 6063 aluminum

6063-T5 is the architectural aluminum. It extrudes with a smooth surface, anodizes cleaner than 6061, and bends on tighter radii without cracking. We stock it in the extrusion profiles, angle, channel, and the tube family, the shapes finished work actually uses. It runs about half the yield of 6061-T6, so keep it off the load path and let it be the edge people see.

Read the full 6061 vs 6063 aluminum guide
When should I pick 6063 over 6061?
When the metal is the part people see or touch: railings, screen frames, door and window trim, LED channel, enclosure edges. 6063 gives you the clean anodized surface there. For anything that carries load, switch to 6061.
Does 6063 anodize well?
Yes, better than 6061. It takes anodizing evenly without the streaks 6061 can show, which is half the reason architectural trim is 6063 in the first place.
