About 5052 aluminum

5052-H32 is the sheet alloy you bend. It gets its strength from the rolling mill instead of heat treatment, so it folds cleanly without cracking and shrugs off weather and salt better than most aluminum. Reach for it when the job is formed sheet: enclosures, panels, marine work, anything with a bend in it.

What's 5052 best for?
Sheet that gets bent or welded. It forms cleanly, holds up outdoors, and resists salt well, which is why it shows up in marine panels and enclosures. For flat sheet you won't bend much, 3003 is the cheaper buy.
Can you weld 5052?
Yes, it welds well with standard aluminum filler. Like all aluminum, the metal next to the weld loses some strength, so plan the joint where the load allows.
