Mill test reports, on request
Yes, you can get the paper here. As of June 2026, every standard product line we sell lists mill test report availability, and order size doesn't change that. One 12″ piece for an inspected job gets the same MTR as a bundle.
What an MTR is and when you need one
A mill test report (MTR) is the certificate the producing mill issues for a heat of metal. It documents the chemistry, the mechanical properties, the heat number, and the mill it came from. The heat number on the paper matches the stock we cut your piece from. That's what traceability means in practice.
You need one whenever the job gets inspected or the spec says so. That covers structural and welded work under engineer review, marine and wharf hardware, food equipment, and pressure work. It also covers any shop running a QA system that files material certs. If your drawing says "material certs required," that's an MTR.
As of June 2026, our two titanium round bars are the only products without listed MTR availability. Everything else on the site shows MTR availability right on the product page.
How to request your MTR
Tell us you need it. The cleanest way: order your metal, then send the team your order number with a note on which pieces need paper. We'll match your pieces to their heats and get the reports to you. Ordering by quote instead? Mention MTRs in the request and they'll follow the quote through.
MTRs, answered
Do small orders come with MTRs?
Yes. Availability doesn't shrink with order size. A single cut piece traces to a heat the same way a lift does, so the paper exists either way. Just ask for it.
What's actually on an MTR?
The heat's chemistry (the alloying percentages), its measured mechanical properties (yield, tensile, elongation), the heat number, the spec it was made to, and the producing mill. It's the metal's birth certificate.
Which products have MTRs available?
As of June 2026, every standard line on the site lists MTR availability: carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, brass, copper, bronze, chrome, and tool steel alike. The two titanium round bars are the lone exception.
When should I ask for the MTR?
Ideally when you order, so we can flag your pieces before they're cut. After the fact works too: contact the team with your order number and we'll pull the reports.
