Description
Description
Chrome Round Bar 1045 is a high-strength, medium-carbon steel bar that is plated with a layer of chrome for enhanced durability and wear resistance. This round bar is commonly used in applications that require superior surface hardness, such as shafts, pistons, and rods. The chrome plating provides added corrosion resistance, making it suitable for use in automotive, machinery, and industrial applications where both strength and wear resistance are critical.
About 1045 chrome-plated steel
1045 is a medium-carbon steel for parts that take real load or wear. The extra carbon, about 0.45%, buys a stronger, tougher bar you can actually heat treat: shafts, axles, pins, and equipment repair. If a 1018 part keeps bending or wearing out, 1045 is the next stop up. The chrome-plated shafting on our rack is 1045 underneath, plated for rollers, slides, and rod repairs.
